The left pane of the interface lists the larger overviews, the center pane shows tasks and people, and the right pane expands on a task's details. New tasks can be added from any device using Producteev and update the others in real time. Collaborating with others is easily handled, too. A nice feature is the ability to create workspaces, each of which is dedicated to either a particular aspect of a larger project, or perhaps to a team for each workspaces. For larger projects, being able to subdivide the work into workspaces will help with assigning and compartmentalizing the tasks properly, all leading to getting the project done in a more organized and timely manner. When a task is coming up, there's audible and visual notifications on the desktop to act as reminders. There's also the ability to quickly update a task so the entire group (if there is one) is synched properly. We enjoyed working with Producteev, and while there are quite a few time management apps out there, there are few that work for entire groups in synch. ZoHo is a classic- integrates well with google, good document management. Want to use it (or have people on your team who are already using it) and know what you want to do- but don’t yet know how to do it? By offering free classes Basecamp increases the usability and availability of their software.īasecamp pricing in this link Opens a new window Highly visual, good for inspiration but maybe not as good for code/files:Ī hugely appealing feature of Basecamp that makes it stand out in this list is the fact that they offer free weekly classes and Q&A sessions. Producteev does not seem to have good calendar features (from what I can see it looks like the calendar is buried and attached to projects) and does not offer the ability to make a Gantt chart Opens a new window – ZoHo and Proofhub both have the ability to make gantt charts for a blend of visual progress, task specifications, and calendar integration. The documentation? And then find the project management SW that best answers your biggest problem. There is a plethora of cloud-based project management options- each with their pros and cons. All of it works- but some project management software options offer workflows that can be more streamlined/more easily shared and updated. Right now it seems like people are using a combination of Outlook calendars, email chains, and document-sharing services like Dropbox, Evernote, or Google docs. Below is the list I wrote for an internal request on some project management options.
